Rene Lalique
He was a french designer and he began work in 1881 as a freelance jewelry but in 1880 he worked with the Art Nevuea.
Dragonfly Corsage
Function:It is a piece of jewelry mainly a brooch to be worn.
Fit For Purpose:Taking in account the size compared to the regular brooch the corsage is rather big but not unwearable.
Aesthetics:It doesn't use a huge variety of colour the wings have a gold frame with a seemingly bright stone covering making it easy to notice.
Material:It is made with gold , diamond and enamel.
Style:Since Rene was part of the Art Nevuea its safe to assume that he used styles similar to that group.
Target Audience:Since its a brooch i think its safe to assume its target is women.
Cost and Sustainability:Due to the use of several rare stones and gold even just to make will be outrageous and is probably priceless in our time.
Health and safety:No matter how you look at it there don't seem to be anything that could damage health or clothing.
Construction Method:For the most part seems to have used plique a jour a technique that require time and specific tools.
Inspiration:Rene was probably inspired by his Art Nevuea days since this piece uses metamorphose (the change of forms), nature and femme fatale a reaccuring theme in the time of Art Nevuea.
Further Note:The wings have joints that move when the wearer does and all the gems are very reflective so combining these two facts means it will be hard to miss not that you could miss a brooch that big any way.
